A Letter from Our President: Ron Marx on Service
For nearly 30 years, Cedar Knoll Log Homes has been designing and manufacturing quality log homes, log cabins and camps, log garages, log siding and log fencing.
Over the last 30 years, I have seen many ups and downs in the log home industry. The one constant that has been the foundation of our success and longevity is service. Prospective log home buyers have hundreds of decisions to make: style, design, size, type of log and budget to name a few. You also have hundreds of options when it comes to choosing a supplier for your logs.
Logs are a commodity material. Prices may vary from species to species and market to market, but logs are logs. But not everyone has 30 years’ experience in the log home industry and can provide a level of service and support that can potentially reduce the overall cost of building your log home like the team of log home experts at Cedar Knoll Log Homes.
Now when I speak of service and support, I’m not just talking about doing what it takes to make a sale and then, poof! I’m talking about spending numerous hours with our log home buyers, walking them through the quagmire that the log home building process can become for even a skilled log home builder. I’m talking about asking the right questions, ferreting out the sometimes uncertain answers and actively getting involved in the planning and designing process.
But our service does not stop with the planning. Our in-house log home construction experts work with clients (or their designated contractor) to avoid common mistakes and ensure your new building is structurally sound. It is not uncommon for one of our construction experts to visit a building site to provide in-person guidance. In rare cases when a member of our support team cannot be reached by phone, it is our pledge to return all calls within 24 hours. If it cannot wait that long, my home phone number is available for the asking.
Our commitment to our product doesn’t stop once your home or cabin is built. Thirty years has taught me that no matter how good the craftsmanship or sound the quality of raw materials, occasionally something goes amiss. Another thing I learned was that if you do not stand behind your work, you cannot stay in business. And I believe that 27 years in business provides good testimony to how we treat our customers after the sale (sometimes even long, long after the sale).
I founded Cedar Knoll Log Homes in 1979. While we have seen significant growth over the last three decades, we remain a family-owned and family-operated business. Our dedication to personal service, custom in-house designing, and production of diverse and unique lumber products has made Cedar Knoll Log Homes one of the most complete and affordable log home manufacturers on the market.
