What’s the difference between a log home and a log cabin?
For many people, these terms – log homes and log cabins – are used interchangeably. However, at LogHomesLogCabins.com we feel there is a difference. A log home is just that: a log house that is of sufficient size and functionality to serve as a primary residence. A log home does not necessarily have to be one’s primary residence, and in all actuality, many log homes serve as seasonal / second homes or weekend retreats.
But the distinguishing factor, by our definition, is ultimately the size. All of the log homes (and log home plans) you will see on this website are over 1000 square feet in living space. In comparison, all of the log cabins (and log cabin plans) are under 1000 square feet.
This means that if you are interested in a 3 bedroom, 2 ½ bath log home, you’re looking in the right place. By making this distinction, we hope to make the time you spend on this site more productive and enjoyable. If you are unsure of what you want, we encourage you to browse the entire site.

All log homes / cabins come as a weathertight shell: logs, matching log siding, lofts, railings, porches, decks, windows, doors, soffits, fascia, shingles, rafters, trusses, interior wall framing, ice and water shield and porch vee joint T & G for ceilings. Prices include blueprints and hands on construction manual. All prices are FOB (freight on board) our factory in New York.
